Michel Couvreur Intravaganza: The Whisky That Won Over Davichi’s Kang Min-kyung

A chance encounter at a whisky bar led Korean singer Kang Min-kyung of Davichi to discover a bottle she would later enthusiastically share: Michel Couvreur Intravaganza CS.

In an April 2024 video on her YouTube channel, Kang visited fellow Davichi member Lee Hae-ri’s holiday home, bringing food and whiskies to enjoy together.

While introducing the French whisky, she shared how she first discovered it.

A recommendation worth remembering

According to Xports News, Kang was visiting a whisky bar with friends when she encountered singer Park Jae-jung, who was drinking the whisky.

Curious, she tried it herself—and enjoyed it so much that she bought bottles to keep at home. She later brought it along for Hae-ri to taste.

Korean whisky publications identified the bottle as Michel Couvreur Intravaganza CS, which subsequently became known among Korean enthusiasts as “Kang Min-kyung’s whisky.”

What makes Intravaganza special?

Classic Intravaganza is matured in Oloroso and Moscatel casks in Michel Couvreur’s humid cellars in Burgundy, France.

Bottled at 50% ABV without added water, it offers a lively yet smooth character. The producer describes notes of fresh almond, honey, fruit and cereals, complemented by the distinctive influence of Moscatel casks.

Its appeal lies in Michel Couvreur’s careful cask selection and cellar maturation—an approach that brings together malt spirit and wine-cask character.
