Michel Couvreur Fleeting 2012 Single Malt | 12 Years Old | 49% ABV | 700ml
Fleeting is a rare wine-cask finish from Michel Couvreur, born from their tradition of “wine casks exchange.” In 2018, freshly emptied fortified Pinot Noir barrels from Domaine Chandon de Briailles (Savigny-les-Beaune) were refilled with 5-year-old malt whisky that had already been aged in Oloroso barrels. After six more years of careful maturation in humid cellars, this 12-year-old release was bottled in February 2024 at natural strength (49% ABV). Approx. 1,800 bottles were produced worldwide.
Tasting Notes
-
Nose: Candied fruits and “red fruits coulis” dominate, with strong Pinot Noir wine cask influence offering ripe berries and jammy sweetness.
-
Palate (Mouth): Soft, delicate, and spicy—the smoke from the base malt and wood adds a balancing touch beneath the sweetness.
-
Finish: Long, smoky, and concentrated, with lingering red fruit and spice interplay.
