Wemyss Malts Glen Keith 1996 “Sweet Disposition” – Single Cask, 23-Year-Old, 53.6% ABV, 700ml

Wemyss Malts Glen Keith 1996 “Sweet Disposition” is a limited single cask bottling from the independent bottler Wemyss Malts. Distilled in 1996 at the Glen Keith distillery—a Speyside gem known for its elegant, fruit-driven spirit—this whisky was matured for 23 years before being bottled at cask strength (53.6% ABV). The name “Sweet Disposition” reflects the whisky’s character: a beautifully balanced expression full of charm, sweetness, and subtle complexity, bottled natural color and non-chill filtered.

Tasting Notes Profile:

Nose:
Delicate and aromatic. A bouquet of honeysuckle, ripe apricots, and vanilla sponge cake drifts in first, followed by subtle hints of buttered croissants, orange marmalade, and toffee glaze. Soft floral notes and oak polish add elegance.

Palate:
Smooth yet vibrant. The sweetness of golden syrup, peach compote, and almond tart is lifted by zesty lemon peel and white grapes. The cask strength lends a warming presence that frames the lighter flavors, with touches of nutmeg, clove, and shortbread developing mid-palate.

Finish:
Lingering and satisfying. Baked apples, vanilla cream, and gentle spice roll on the tongue, ending with a whisper of hazelnut praline and soft oak tannins.

Overall:

Glen Keith 1996 “Sweet Disposition” is a prime example of a Speyside single malt that marries age, finesse, and flavor. Bottled at full strength, this whisky retains its elegant charm while offering richness and depth. A superb dram for those who enjoy graceful sweetness and refined cask influence in a rare single cask format.
